Lata and Hemant sang it

My playlist dedicated to songs from films that released between 1960 and 1968 contained one song from the 1966 film Mamta.

The subject of this post was the second song from the film in my collection.

If they were arranged in the alphabetical order, Chhupa Lo Yun Dil Mein Pyaar Mera would be the first.

And if they are arranged in the descending order of their durations, it would be the second – it was three minutes and 11 seconds long.

Lata Mangeshkar and Hemant Kumar sang the Roshan composition, which was written by Majrooh Sultanpuri. 

The ‘Bibi’, Geeta, sang this

With the addition of this song to my collection, there are three songs from Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam (1962) in it.

If there arranged in the alphabetical order, it would be the last of those – the song in question was Piya Aiso Jiya Mein Samaye Gayo.

And if they were arranged in the ascending (or descending) order of their durations, it would be the second – it was four minutes and 15 seconds long.

It was sung by Geeta Dutt.

Hemant Kumar, who composed the film’s songs, didn’t render any of them.

Shakeel Badayuni wrote them.

In 1959, Anandji Virji Shah officially joined his older brother, Kalyanji Virji Shah, to form the composer jodi Kalyanji-Anandji. Hitherto, Kalyanji had made a mark as a musician and a solo music director.

They made a fine debut as a debut in Satta Bazaar (1959).

The only song from the film in my collection was Tumhe Yaad Hoga Kabhi Hum Mile The.

Lata Mangeshkar and Hemant Kumar were the two people who lent their voices to the song.

Gulshan Bawra penned a third of the songs on the soundtrack of the film, including this one.

The subject of this post made it to this playlist purely because I was curious.

I had heard the recreated version of O Neend Na Mujhko Aaye, from the 2015 film Shaandaar (but more on that later).

It did sound familiar, but I had to confirm that, because I didn’t know the film the original song was from.

So, when I looked it up online, I found that it was from the 1958 film Post Box 999.

Lata Mangeshkar and Hemant Kumar sang it.

P L Santoshi wrote the song, which Kalyanji Virji Shah composed.

Lata sang this ro(He)mantic duet

When a Hindi film music enthusiastic thinks of Tanga-wali (the female driver of a horse-drawn carriage), the first name that comes to mind is Basanti, Hema Malini’s talkative character in the 1975 film Sholay.

But a couple of decades before that cult classic, a film titled Tangawali released.

My collection contained just one song from the film.

It was a romantic number titled Halke Halke Chalo Sanware.

The two people who lent their voices to it were Lata Mangeshkar and Hemant Kumar.

Prem was Dhawan who wrote the song, which was composed by Salil Chowdhury.
