Sanyasi released in 1975.

My collection contained a couple of songs from the film (including the subject of this post).

If they were arranged in the alphabetical order, Sun Baal Bramhachari would be the second.

Both the tracks from the film in my collection had a couple of things in common.

Firstly, the two people who sang them were Lata Mangeshkar and Mukesh.

And secondly, they were composed by Shankar Singh Ram Singh Raghuvanshi (Jaikishan Dayabhai Panchal had died by then).

The only difference between the two was the songwriter – Verma Malik wrote this one.

Mukesh and Rafi rendered it

Samjhauta released in 1973.

My collection contained just one song from the film.

It was titled Badi Door Se Aaye Hain.

The next five words of the song were Pyaar Ka Tohfa Laaye Hain.

It would not be incorrect to state that it was one of the finest male duets on the soundtracks of Hindi films that released in the 1970s.

The two men who lent their voices to it were Mukesh and Mohammed Rafi.

The song was written by Indeevar.

The two men who composed it were Kalyanji Virji Shah and Anandji Virji Shah.

It was (Sum)another Kalyanpur-Mukesh duet

My collection contained three songs from Pehchan, which released in 1970.

If they were arranged in the alphabetical order, Aaya Na Humko Pyaar Jatana would be the first.

It was sung by Mukesh (who lent his voice to all the three songs from the film in my collection).

Moreover, it was the second contribution of Suman Kalyanpur to the soundtrack of the film.

Each of the three tracks from the film in my collection was written by a different lyricist – Indeevar penned this one.

It was composed by Kalyanji Virji Shah and Anandji Virji Shah.

It was Su(ma)ng by Mukesh

Saathi released in 1968.

Mukesh Chand Mathur sang the majority of the songs on the soundtrack of the film.

Interestingly, he was the only male singer to lend his voice to them.

However, my collection contained just one of those.

It was titled Mera Pyaar Bhi Tu Hai.

The lady who joined him behind the microphone for the song was Suman Kalyanpur.

It happened to be her only contribution to the soundtrack of the film.

Majrooh Sultanpuri penned the song, which was composed by Naushad Ali.

The song was four minutes and 22 seconds long.

This completed Mukesh’s ‘Diwana’ duology

Put 1967, the word Diwana and Mukesh Chand Mathur in the same sentence, and what one would get it a duology of songs that were rendered by him and were from films that released that year,

While I have already written about one of those, the other happened to be the fourth song from Milan in my collection.

It was titled Main Toh Diwana.

The six words in the song’s opening line were, “Mubarak Ho Sabko Sama Yeh Suhana”.

It was written by Anand Bakshi, and was composed by Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar and Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma.

Mukesh sang this title track

Rishi Kapoor was one of the three leading actors in the 1992 film Deewana.

And his father, Raj Kapoor, starred in a film titled Diwana, which released a quarter of a century earlier.

My collection contains just one song from the latter (chronologically the former).

And it was aptly titled Diwana Mujhko Log Kahen.

Indeed, people believed the showman was obsessed with and passionate about everything he did.

No prizes for guessing that Mukesh sang the song.

It was written by Hasrat Jaipuri, and composed by Shankar Singh Ram Singh Raghuvanshi and Jaikishan Dayabhai Panchal.

They promoted interestional touriSM then

Back in the day, only the wealthy travelled.

And in 1967, when Around The World released, eight dollars (the sum referenced in the song) was about Rs 60 (a princely sum).

My collection contained just one song from the film – Duniya Ki Sair Kar Lo.

The song reference three US cities (Los Angeles, Washington, and New York) and five European ones (London, Paris, Berlin, Rome, and Venice).

Sharda Rajan Iyengar and Mukesh Chand Mathur lent it their voices.

Shailendra wrote the song, which was composed by Shankar Singh Ram Singh Raghuvanshi and Jaikishan Dayabhai Panchal.

It was a (Muke)short song

My collection contained just one song from Anita, which released in 1967.

It was titled Tum Bin Jeevan Kaise Beeta.

The next four words of the song were Poochho Mere Dil Se.

Every person who has experienced heartbreak in his life would be able to relate to the song, which was rendered by the one and only Mukesh.

It was the joint-shortest song on the soundtrack of the film – it was four minutes and 19 seconds long.

Raja Mehdi Ali Khan penned the song, which was composed by Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar and Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma.

It completed Mukesh’s ‘Sajan’ duology

Teesri Kasam released in 1966.

My collection had five songs from the film, including the subject of this post.

If they were arranged in the alphabetical order, it would be the last.

And if they were arranged in the descending order of their durations, it would be the third – it was three minutes and 51 seconds long.

The film’s soundtrack had two songs that begun with Sajan.

And Sajanwa Bairi Ho Gayi Hamaar was the second of those.

Mukesh rendered it.

The song was written by Shailendra, also the film’s producer.

Shankar Jaikishan composed it.

I only included Mukesh’s version

Lata Mangeshkar and Mukesh Chand Mathur lent their voices to the majority of the songs on the soundtrack of Dulha Dulhan, which released in 1964.

My collection, however, contained just one song from the film.

Or, to be precise, one of the two versions of it.

The track in question was the male version of Humne Tumko Pyaar Kiya Hai Jitna.

No prizes for guessing who sang it.

The song was penned by Indeevar.

It was composed by Kalyanji-Anandji.

Music directors Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar and Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma assisted the brothers on the film’s soundtrack.

A popuLar idioM was referenced

My collection contains five songs from Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai (1960), including the subject of this post and the next one.

If they were arranged in the alphabetical order, Begaani Shaadi Mein Abdullah Deewana would be the first.

Shailendra referenced the Hindi proverb, which translated to, “A person who is more interested in poking his nose into others’ affairs than minding his own business”.

Lata Mangeshkar and Mukesh lent their voices to it.

Shankar Singh Ram Singh Raghuvanshi and Jaikishan Dayabhai Panchal composed the song, which was three minutes and 29 seconds long.

Apparently, this song was ReMedial

In Ujala (1959), Raaj Kumar was the antagonist, and Shammi Kapoor was the protagonist.

Those were the days the baddies didn’t sing and dance in Hindi films.

But Kumar’s displeasure about not having any tracks picturised on him led the inclusion of Yaaron Surat Hamari Pe Mat Jao on the film’s soundtrack.

It was a friendship song, to which Mukesh and Mohammed Rafi lent their voices.

I sat down to write this post on December 14, 2023 (which happened to be the 57^th death anniversary of Shailendra, who wrote the song).

Shankar Jaikishan composed it.

This was a Mukesh-Rafi duet

With the addition of the subject of this post to my collection, there are four songs from the 1958 film Phir Subah Hogi in it.

If they were arranged in the alphabetical order, Jis Pyaar Mein Yeh Haal Ho would be the third.

By the way, the next four words of the song were, “Us Pyaar Se Tauba”.

Two men lent it their voices.

One was Mukesh, and the other was Mohammed Rafi.

It was the latter’s only contribution to the soundtrack of the film.

Sahir Ludhianvi wrote the song, which was composed by Khayyam.

Mukesh didn’t just sing it

Aah released in 1953.

Spread across my playlists, there were four songs from the film in my collection.

If they were arranged in the alphabetical order, as well as in the ascending order of their durations, the subject of this post would be the second.

The track in question was Chhoti Si Yeh Zindagi, and it was three minutes and 53 seconds long.

It was not just sung by Mukesh Chand Mathur, but also picturised on him.

The song was written by Shailendra, and composed by Shankar Singh Ram Singh Raghuvanshi and Jaikishan Dayabhai Panchal.

Mukesh’s fans loved this Du(e)t(t)

Kidar Nath Sharma – also known as Kidar Sharma – was a producer, director, and writer of dialogue, screenplay and songs.

He did all five of these in a film titled Bawre Nain, which released in 1950.

There was just one song from the film in my collection.

It was titled Khayalon Mein Kisi Ke.

The song was a duet – the two people who lent their voices to it were Geeta Ghosh Roy Chowdhury (who would go on to be known as Geeta Dutt) and Mukesh.

It was widely regarded as composer Roshan Lal Nagrath’s first hit.
