Undoubtedly, Mubarak Begum was remembered

If the anecdote is to be believed, Lata Mangeshkar, apparently, was busy.

And that prompted music director Vasudev Gangaram Bhatkar (popularly known as Snehal Bhatkar) to employ the vocals of Mubarak Begum to render a song from a film that released in 1961.

The song in question was Kabhi Tanhaiyon Mein Hamari Yaad Aayegi.

And it was the title track of Hamari Yaad Aayegi.

As far as my collection was concerned, it was the only song from the film.

And the song was written by Kidar Nath Sharma, who also wrote and helmed the film.

Mukesh’s fans loved this Du(e)t(t)

Kidar Nath Sharma – also known as Kidar Sharma – was a producer, director, and writer of dialogue, screenplay and songs.

He did all five of these in a film titled Bawre Nain, which released in 1950.

It was titled Khayalon Mein Kisi Ke.

The song was a duet – the two people who lent their voices to it were Geeta Ghosh Roy Chowdhury (who would go on to be known as Geeta Dutt) and Mukesh.

It was widely regarded as composer Roshan Lal Nagrath’s first hit.
