Vani Jairam sang this prayer

Vani Jairam was born in Vellore, Madras Presidency, British India (now in Tamil Nadu) on November 30, 1945.

On February 4, 2023, the 77-year-old playback singer died, after a fall, in Chennai, the capital of the aforementioned state in southern India.

She was the voice of soundtrack of Guddi (1971).

While my collection had just one song from the film earlier  I added the second to this playlist.

It was the four-and-a-half-minute prayer, Humko Man Ki Shanti Dena.

A chorus accompanied Vani for the song, which was written by Gulzar, and composed by Vasant Desai.

Dey sang this title track

Toofan Aur Deeya released in 1956.

The only song from the film in my collection happened to be its title track.

It had a couple of titles.

One was Yeh Kahani Hai Deeye Aur Toofan Ki (which means, “This is the story of a lamp and a storm”).

And the other was Nirbal Se Ladaai Balwaan Ki (which could be translated to, “The fight between the weak and the strong”).

It was the only contribution to Manna Dey to the soundtrack of the film.

The song V(y)as written by Bharat, and composed by Vasant Desai.
