Rafi sang this for Kishore

Before I describe the subject of this post, it must be mentioned that film it was from was aptly titled.

Mann Mora Baawra was the only song from Raagini in my collection.

The film, which released in 1958, starred Kishore Kumar.

But he did not lend his voice to the song – it was sung by the one and only Mohammed Rafi.

Obviously, there was sound logic (pun intended) in that decision – while Kishore wasn’t classically-trained, Rafi aced that genre.

The song was written by Jan Nisar Akhtar.

And it was composed by O P Nayyar.

Asha (Bhos)lent it her voice

Hum Sub Chor Hain released in 1995.

And 39 years before that, a film of the same name, albeit with a slightly different spelling – Hum Sab Chor Hain – released.

The subject of this post was the Asha Bhosle solo from the film, Antam Fantam Chhod De Babu.

It was on Binaca Geetmala's annual playlist in 1957 (on which it bagged the eighth spot).

I excluded another song from the film, O Mr Benjo (which was 27^th on said countdown, and was sung by Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi).

Majrooh Sultanpuri wrote the O P Nayyar composition.

This Du(e)t(t) became quite populaR

There were a couple of similarities between the subject of the previous post and this one.

Firstly, both the songs were from films that released in 1955.

And secondly, they had four-word titles, of which one of the words was Haseen.

The song referenced in this post was Udhar Tum Haseen Ho, and it was from Mr. & Mrs. ’55.

The two people who lent the song their voices were Geeta Dutt and Mohammed Rafi.

Neither was a surprise, because they were the voices of the soundtrack.

This was another Geeta solo

The title of a film that released in 1952 was what the man who composed its songs wanted to touch.

The film in question was Aasmaan (sky).

And the only song from the film in my collection was Dekho Jadoo Bhare More Naina.

By the way, the music director was Omkar Prasad Nayyar, better known as O P Nayyar.

The lady who lent her voice to the song was none other than Geeta Ghosh Roy Chowdhury (for whom the song should have been rechristened Suno Jadoo Bhari Meri Aawaz).
