It completed Lata’s ‘DooR’ duology

If one were to put 1958, Lata Mangeshkar, and the word ‘Door’ (far) in the same sentence, a couple of tracks would come to mind.

And both of them happen to be on this playlist.

While I had already written about one of them in an earlier post, the subject of this post – Chahe Paas Ho Chahe Door Ho – was the other.

It was the only song from Samrat Chandragupt in my collection.

Mohammed Rafi joined her behind the microphone for it.

Bharat V(y)as the lyricist, and the song was composed by Kalyanji Virji Shah.

Hemant’s classic was recreated Lat(a)er

The subject of this post made it to this playlist purely because I was curious.

I had heard the recreated version of O Neend Na Mujhko Aaye, from the 2015 film Shaandaar (but more on that later).

It did sound familiar, but I had to confirm that, because I didn’t know the film the original song was from.

So, when I looked it up online, I found that it was from the 1958 film Post Box 999.

Lata Mangeshkar and Hemant Kumar sang it.

P L Santoshi wrote the song, which Kalyanji Virji Shah composed.
