The education system was MocKed

Sikandar is Hindi for Alexander III of Macedon, who was better known as Alexander The Great.

His battle with Porus was the subject of the third song from the 1962 film Anpadh in my collection.

It was titled Sikandar Ne Porus Se Ki Thi Ladaai.

The song took a dig at the Indian education system, as well as the ‘funny’ English language (as was evident from the line about P-U-T put and B-U-T but).

It was Mahendra Kapoor’s only contribution to the film’s soundtrack.

Raja Mehdi Ali Khan wrote the song, which Madan Mohan composed.
